You need to be careful when it comes to choosing the right air duct cleaning company.  Unfortunately, there is a high number of duct cleaning scam companies lurking in the shadows waiting to take advantage of you.  Even worse, a lot of the time they’re not lurking in the shadows but more right in front of your face with the facade of savings…

This is the old “Bait and Switch” routine.  They get into your home with the guise of low prices only to find countless ways to increase the end price to actually complete the work.  They will say the $99 is for a basic cleaning but to get a “thorough” cleaning they’ll need to tack on $800!  There is also reports of them carrying around already positive test results for mold and then saying the test came from your house.  Save your money and avoid these companies!

This method of pricing is less of a scam and more of a tricky way to increase the cost to complete the work.  Many homes have air duct vents that will run on the same line.  You will be paying twice for lines that have already been cleaned.  To be fair, this is not the most egregious of scams out there but more of moral compass question.  If you’re willing to cut corners here, where else in the project will they cut corners?

You should really be wary of a company that shows up and completes the work in under two hours.  These are described as “Blow and Go” companies.  The chances of getting a quality air duct cleaning in that amount of time is slim to none.  Be sure to ask how long the process will take if scheduling with a different company.  We take about three hours on average to complete our duct cleaning projects.
